Describe yourself in 10 words or less:
OK here are close to 10 words… Dad, 3 great kids, beautiful wife (with a way better over head squat), surfing, skiing, Hawks, Wallabies, test cricket, mindfulness, cooking, red wine.

Why did you start training at CrossFit Hawthorn East?
I was bored at boot camp, absolutely loath training in a regular gym and was looking for a new challenge. 

What’s your biggest achievement so far?
Well there are two:  I really couldn’t do one strict pull up when I started, so doing a first bar muscle up was sweet…and beating by 2k rowing time trial from school rowing days. 

What do you love about CrossFit Hawthorn East?
Might sound weird but it’s where I switch off and relax…Walk in, think about nothing but the workout, do things I never thought possible…and with a great supportive community. 

What is the main health goal you are focusing on at the moment?
Not getting any lighter…and working on cardio. 

Any advice for anyone just starting their CrossFit journey?
Everyone says this (and I wish I’d listened)…technique before weight. Focus on mobility from day one. And most of all have fun!

Tell us something we don’t know about you.
Before he was famous and was teaching driving courses, I took Mark Webber round a race track in my 1984 Corolla Seca. 

Apart from CrossFit Hawthorn East, where are your favourite hangouts in the Hawthorn, Camberwell or Boroondara area?
At home (I don’t get out much!)…Axil for the baked eggs and Penang Coffee House for hands down the best chicken laksa ever (it ain’t Paleo though)
