Building a community of fun, friendly and supportive members is important to us at CrossFit Hawthorn East.  We’re not only helping the Camberwell and Hawthorn locals get fitter, faster and stronger – our coaches and community are there to motivate and encourage our members every step of the way. Our gym is filled with friends from all around the Boroondara area to focus on their health and fitness goals.

Describe yourself in 10 words or less: Quiet, analytical and always willing to give anything a try.

Why did you start training at CrossFit Hawthorn East?

Wasn’t getting any results training at a bodybuilding gym and paying premium for coaching over 2 years, so thought I would give CrossFit a go.  Selected Hawthorn East as people seemed like they were working hard and having fun whenever I walked to and from Auburn Station.

What’s your biggest achievement so far? 

Handstand pushups – I have a fear of being upside down

And also getting an improved body composition, which was something I could not obtain from other previous activities.

What do you love about CrossFit Hawthorn East? 

Everyone is there to help each other.  The coaches focus on form – whenever I miss something, they are there to tell me straight away or after the session.

What is the main health goal you are focusing on at the moment? 

Improve on my techniques for all movements and build the mental strength of never giving and pushing myself all the way till the end until the time hits 0.

Any advice for anyone just starting their CrossFit journey? 

Embrace every WOD, give everything a go and don’t expect to be perfect.  The best thing about CrossFit is that there are endless improvements and scalability options, which means it’s a sport/fitness activity for life.  Every movement is equally as important, because they all support each other.  If you enroll in the CrossFit Games, any one of those movements may come up.  

Tell us something we don’t know about you.  

I spent 10 years as a receptionist and now I hate chatting on the phone.

Apart from CrossFit Hawthorn East, where are your favourite hangouts in the Hawthorn, Camberwell or Boroondara area? 

You will find me at The Source Bulk Foods or at Fonda for a sneaky cheat meal.
